Hey everyone – this is Mike for Rob. Rob is probably at this point, sitting on a beach sipping a cold one in Mexico with Joanne and the kids, as they flew down today for a surprise birthday/family vacation for Joanne – what a superstar!  (I am sure that he will be dipping a toe in the water at least… ;))

While Rob is away, we have two swimmers starting their crossing, and Rob has asked Madhu and I to keep everyone updated here – so here we go!

Michele is planning on leaving today between 8 and 9pm.  She has the SPOT with here (well, her crew does anyhow ;)) and you can track her here: http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0NmqfiNDdx74zvrMrQIeiAfk3uurVqJ2R

You can also follow her journey on her Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/michelewavesforwater

As they post updates to the facebook page, Madhu and I will repost them here and on the Facebook page, so you have a multitude of choices for following her swim!  The plan is for the swim to finish at Spencer Smith Park in Burlington around 2ish – so plan on coming down to show your support!

Annaleise has delayed her swim until tomorrow at 6:30pm, so we have a full weekend of swimming madness!

Annaleise also has a SPOT with her, and you can watch it at: http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0Z9XPg0jHhidUoPQKPYxzQNvq9uWEq1iA

We are not 100% sure at this point where Annaleise’s updates will be posted – but rest assured that we will ferret that out, and make sure we keep you up to date here as well!

Have a great weekend everyone – and I will see some of you tomorrow @ the LOST swim, and the rest of you, hopefully at Michele’s and then Annaleise’s finish!

Cheers – Mike

I founded LOST Swimming because I like open water swimming and would like to see it grow and thrive in Lake Ontario. I started as a competitive swimmer as a kid and ended up getting as far as a silver medal at Nationals and going to the Olympic Trials in 1988. But I retired after that, I was sick of swimming. So I got into running marathons and have run over 35 to date, as well as a few ultra marathons, including the Marathon des Sables (7 day, ultra across the Sahara Desert). I also kind of fell into triathlons and have done a handful of Ironman tri's too. This gradually got me back in the water and in 2006 I took the plunge and attempted swimming the English Channel. I didn't quite make it across, but the circle was now complete and after 17 years I was a swimmer again! Although I still do plenty of pool swimming, I now much prefer open water swimming and like to say that open water swimming is to pool swimming, what trail running is to treadmill running! As a result I hope to encourage more people to join me for a dip in Lake Ontario as often as we can!
