There are two types of people in this world…

Hab-boy out for a stroll on the Champs Elysees… looking for MacDonalds…

… the people that think Lance is/was a doper and a cheat… and those who don’t… the cup is half empty or half full.  Lance hasn’t even ridden in the Tour de France for 7 years now (yes, it’s been that long!)… and he won for 7 straight years… so this conversation has been going on for about 14 years… and it ain’t over yet… at least here on the trading floor…  so a buddy of mine that I work with, let’s call him “Hab boy” thinks that Lance is guilty by association and innuendo… the logic goes like this: if almost everyone was using EPO or some other performance enhancing drug back then, and Lance could still beat them… well then, he is either some kind of incredible athlete… or just had better drugs… and the other side of the argument is… he is the most tested athlete in ANY sport, literally tested hundreds of times, and has never tested

… but he was frustrated because he couldn’t get across the road…

positive… and we on the other side of the fence, choose to believe he really is an incredible athlete, like Michael Jordan or Gretzky or Muhammad Ali… but unlike those athletes he has also raised hundreds of millions for cancer victims and cancer awareness… so give it a rest already… now I’m not sure if we’ll ever know the answer… but for most people the line has been drawn, one side or the other… and Hab boy is convinced he is guilty (and he may well be)… but until he actually is PROVEN guilty, I’ll go on believing he’s not guilty… and why do I bring this up?… because Hab boy isn’t in the office this week… he sent me a bloomberg message yesterday asking me if I watched the end of the Tour on Sunday?… I said “of course!”… he said “me too… because I’m in Paris! (at the bank’s office’s there)… and I was at the Champs

… because there were too many guys riding around in circles on bikes!

Elysees for the finish!”… and he knew that it would make me crazy that a Tour-hater like him was there watching one of the greatest races in the world… while I was here at work… he said it was boring though… and he was a bit mad because there were all these guys on bikes blocking the road… when he was on his way across the street trying to get to McDonalds…

He even had to rub it in by sending me these pics!

PS.  another buddy sent me a joke about the title that I had to share… “There are 3 types of people in the world… people who are good at math… and people who aren’t!

Cheers,

Rob

I founded LOST Swimming because I like open water swimming and would like to see it grow and thrive in Lake Ontario. I started as a competitive swimmer as a kid and ended up getting as far as a silver medal at Nationals and going to the Olympic Trials in 1988. But I retired after that, I was sick of swimming. So I got into running marathons and have run over 35 to date, as well as a few ultra marathons, including the Marathon des Sables (7 day, ultra across the Sahara Desert). I also kind of fell into triathlons and have done a handful of Ironman tri's too. This gradually got me back in the water and in 2006 I took the plunge and attempted swimming the English Channel. I didn't quite make it across, but the circle was now complete and after 17 years I was a swimmer again! Although I still do plenty of pool swimming, I now much prefer open water swimming and like to say that open water swimming is to pool swimming, what trail running is to treadmill running! As a result I hope to encourage more people to join me for a dip in Lake Ontario as often as we can!
