 Hi all,

So I got an email from Dave Dame the race director for the Zoot Open water swim this Sunday… asking me to invite you all up for an early season open water swimming race!

So for those of you who have caught the open water swimming bug (not the kind that Darren got from swimming at Gulliver’s last year when it was too warm… you can get a cream for that 😉 )… but the other kind of ows’ing bug… the kind that has you enthused to jump in and swim and/or race any chance you can… well then this is a great opportunity!  Looks like fun… check it out!

Wear your LOST colors proud!!!… and send me some pics! (let me know if you need a yellow LOST cap on Saturday, $5)

PS.  I’m going to see if I can make it myself… depends on family stuff!

Why? A great start to open water swimming. This is a great opportunity to tune up your open water swimming for triathlon races or for those swimming experts! For many the swim is the most intimidating part of the triathlon, this will help you ease into triathlon season without worrying about the bike or run. If you’re training for an Ironman or Half Ironman or Muskoka in June this is an early season MUST!

When: Sunday June 3rd, 9:30 AM

How Much? $20 for either the 1k, 2k or 4k races. Extra $5 May 22nd-June 2nd.  Race day registration available for $30.

 … or on race day!

What Else? The water temperature is between 16-19 degrees and folks do swim without a wetsuit but in my opinion wetsuits are recommended. Don’t have one? Runner’s life has wetsuit rentals that can be rented for race day if pre-arranged.

The Zoot open water swim is an excellent predictor of performance in swims throughout the season.

From a large sample of last year’s results, it was found to be 97.8% accurate in predicting swim times in the 2011 season!!!
