So we have one LOSTie who likes to quietly slide under the radar… and he does some pretty cool swims… and he likes NYC… even though he’s from Barrie… or maybe because he’s from Barrie.
Steve Faulkner, who gets down from Barrie to swim with us whenever he can is the quiet unassuming type… and a great swimmer and a quietly ambitious guy. Steve has done a whole bunch of the NYC Swims (nycswims.org) and volunteered with them too. Last year he crewed for an Aussie who swam the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim (MIMS)… and this year he is doing the 47k classic swim himself… in 2 weeks!!!
But before he does MIMS, he’s going down to NYC to do the Aquathlon… this is my kinda race… swimming and running! Screw the bike. 😉 Check it out below.

Aquathlon and Swim This Weekend!
For all you triathletes, or swimmers who like to race them, this weekend’s Aquathlon and Swim is your kind of event! Come race this spectacular course and location just three weeks before the extremely popular NYC Triathlon, and gain valuable experience practicing open water swimming and race transitions.
This fun and challenging multi-sport event combines a 1.5-km swim in the water off Manhattan from Randall’s Island Park and a flat, fast, scenic shoreline 5-km run in the shadow of four bridges, and with breathtaking views of Hell Gate and the East River. Prefer just to swim? Enroll in the swim-only race on the same day or help out as a volunteer.
If you need to figure out how to get to the start or want to preview the swim and run courses, why not register to be part of the free NYCeWheels-sponsored preview bike tour tonight, Wednesday June 13? Bikes are provided. The ride starts at 6:00 PM on the Upper East Side, goes across the 103rd Street Footbridge and around Randall’s Island Park before heading back to Manhattan.
