Hi all,

So this is it… LOST Swimming 2013 will officially start June 1, 8:00 am at LOST Beach!!!

So how cold is it?… low 50’s… but in 2 weeks… I’m sure it’ll be toasty warm!!! 😉

We already have a bunch of people who have pre-registered, but if you haven’t, feel free to print out the registration form and waiver from the website, along with cash or cheque (made out to LOST Swimming) and bring it with you to your first swim (whether your first swim is on June 1 or later).

A couple of improvements we’ve made this year…

1) given how LOST has grown, I can’t get around to talk to each person with questions (although I try to!), so we will have “LOST Ambassadors” wearing recognizable T-shirts to answer questions that anyone may have. These are the wily ol’ vets of LOST Swimming who know as much about it as I do… so ask away! (thanks for the suggestion Darren!)

2) also, included in your registration fee this year will be a new RED colored LOST swim cap… to show that you’ve registered. So you’ll need to wear this RED cap to show you’ve registered.

3) Also, we’ve always tried to keep LOST as friendly as possible and no better way to do that than to know everyone’s names. In the old days we used to go through and everyone would introduce themselves before the swim… but that’s when we had 8 or 10 swimmers… last July we had 85 swimmers out on one Saturday! So that’s not going to work! What we’ve decided to do is write everyone’s name on their red swim cap… I know it’s kind of dorky, like wearing a name tag… but it works! You really do get to know people better… heck you can wear it to coffee after if you really want to! 😉 (thanks to Mel and BMSC for that idea!).

And a couple of reminders…

1) Check in AND out with whoever has the clipboard… so we know how many went into the Lake… AND how many came out!

2) You must be registered to swim… hence the RED caps.

3) We are always on the lookout for kayakers… so if you know anyone who would rather paddle than swim, let me (or one of the LOST Ambassadors)know. If they have a kayak that’s great, if not, we sometimes have more kayaks than kayakers.

See you soon!

Cheers,

Rob
